Peacekeeping

The Canadian Military Heritage Project believes our Canadian contribution to international peace, security, and stability, is extremely important in our military history. Following is a list of Peacekeeping missions that the Canadian military has participated in since 1954 to support peace and stability around the world.

*Ethiopia and Eritrea from 2000 to 2003.
*Afghanistan from 2001 to 2014.
*East Timor from 1999 to 2001.
*two missions in Haiti to provide stability and relief from 1995 to 2004.
*Rwanda during a violent civil war from 1993 to 1996.
*Somalia from 1992 to 1993.
*UNPROFOR operations in the Balkan region from 1991 to 2004.
*Syria since 1974.
*the Congo since 1960.
*Cyprus from 1964 to 1993.
*Cambodia during four peace support missions from 1954 to 2000
